While artists of Hudson River School were inspired by nature and depicted it to memorize it's beauty, members of White Mountain movement had a goal to promote the region of White Mountains of New Hampshire.

For example, a Meadow in the Mountains by Van Gogh is performed in post-impressionist style, Franz Marc showed mountains with a help of Impressionist art language, but most of the artists created their mountain landscapes under strong influence of Romanticism.
